Acne is a common skin condition. Acne lesions can appear as whiteheads, blackheads, small pink bumps called papules, or pimples (pus-filled red lesions). More severe forms can result in firm, painful nodules and cysts and may lead to scarring. Acne most often occurs on the face but can also develop on the shoulders, back, chest, legs, and buttocks.

Home face wash for acne: Mix together 1 or 2mls each of the following: witch hazel, tea-tree and sweet fennel essential oils, adding essential oil of geranium for women and essential oil of rosewood for men. Mix with 300mls of water. Shake before use, as the oils will float on top of the water during storage. Dab affected areas with cotton wool two or three times a day. The oils will clean and unclog giving antibiotic-like protection to the skin.

Apply fresh lime juice mixed with a half glass of boiled milk for treating pimples, blackheads and cracked skin.

Apply some toothpaste on the acne. Do NOT apply on skin because it will make it dry, only on the acne spots.

A person shouldn’t use both of them together.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E also helps in countering Acne. It is a natural antioxidant and beneficial for the skin. Vitamin E comes in soft gelatin capsules that contain Vitamin E, Soybean Oil, Glycerin, and Water.

Steep 1 teaspoon dried rosemary in 1 cup warm (not hot) water for 10 minutes. Stir well, then bathe acne-prone areas of your skin in the solution for a couple of minutes. Rinse well. I do this just before bed on my forehead and hairline, where I tend to break out. This will help soothe sore, raw skin and gently cleanse without causing overly dry skin (which in turn leads to increased oil production and worsens acne).

Make a paste of nutmeg (jaiphal) with unboiled milk and apply on affected area. It is wonderful acne alternative treatment.
