Acne is an inflammatory skin disorder which is commonly seen in teenagers. It is also known, as pimples, spots or zits. It affects the oil glands of the skin. Small pores in the skin called follicle connects to the oil glands present under the skin. Inside these follicles, oil carries dead skin cells to the surface of the skin. When there is some kind of blockage in the follicle, it leads to acne.

Acne Vulgaris Symptoms

Acne Vulgaris is characterized by the presence of comedones or blackheads, pimples, small superficial sebaceous cysts, and scars. There are over half a dozen types of acne, the most common being blackheads. The areas chiefly affected are the forehead, temples, cheeks, chin, chest and back. In rare cases, almost the entire body may be covered with acne accompanied by extensive scarring.

Acne Home Remedies

Don’t rest your chin on your hands. Try not to touch your face. It causes trauma to acne, just like picking pimples does. Tight sweatbands and chin straps from baseball caps and sports equipment can have the same effect.

Rinse that rouge. “Wash your makeup off thoroughly every night,” says Dr. Fulton. “Use a mild soap twice a day and make sure you rinse the soap entirely off your face. Rinsing six or seven times with fresh water should do it.”

A steam shower is also helpful in the fight against acne. If this is not possible, a good alternative is to boil a pot of water and place one’s head over the vapors for about five minutes. Alternatively, one can place a warm washcloth directly on the face. In all cases, the pores will open up and become easier to clean. With the pores open, blackheads can be safely squeezed out.
