There are many myths regarding acne and even a few misconceptions that could prolong the life of your acne or cause skin damage. Here are the more popular ones to avoid.

The sun and tanning beds will cause acne to clear up in the short term. Your skin will redden which will blend your skin tone with the red acne marks however, tanning beds and sun exposure is only causing damage to your skin. If your skin is fighting off further ultra-violet exposure from the sun by tanning then you are damaging your skin even though some of the acne is gone. It may help acne but at the cost of damaging your skin, it is not worth it.

Unhygienic Conditions Aggravates Acne.

This myth is also very popular among people that unhygienic conditions build up acne breakouts. Till today there is not a single cause for acne is discovered that you can pinpoint it. Remaining dirty and filthy all the time does not mean you will have acne. Yes you must keep proper hygiene to avoid acne. But there is no scientific proof that poor cleanliness makes aggravates acne breakouts. In fact acne appears when skin oil combines with dead cells, result is acne. When the follicle gets clogs up, trapping inside it the sebum and hair is an early sign of acne. These are the inflammatory type of acne.

If you have Pimples, you should scrub your skin everyday: Scrubbing your skin everyday can do more harm than good. It increases inflammation and worsens the situation. You need to treat your skin gently. Most people tend to pick and squeeze pimples which sends the infection deeper into the follicle and aggravates the problem.

There is nothing you can do to cure pimples: This is not true. There are some very good treatments available to help you get rid of acne. Some of the treatments include topical creams, oral medication and more. Whether you are in your teens or an adult and whatever type of acne you suffer from(severe or mild) there are some amazing treatments that can help you out.

Stress causes acne.

Stress directly does not cause acne. However, stress could make the acne condition worse. Having acne as it is can be stressful for most and some medications used as a result of the treatment of stress may give rise to acne.

Sunbathing will help fight acne or improve the condition.

Sunbathing, instead of improving the condition could lead to other complications such as skin cancer, as sun exposure is the common cause for skin cancer and wrinkles.
